Women’s Ministries

Service Group/Disciples Women’s Ministry

Join us for a morning of community service and creativity!

The DWM at Sun City CC is dedicated to making a positive impact through our service projects.

Whether you’re a seasoned quilter or have never knitted a stitch, everyone is welcome to join us. No experience necessary!

After the morning activities, we’ll enjoy a delightful lunch together. Feel free to contribute by bringing a salad to share. Don’t miss out – mark your calendar and join us for a day of service, crafts, and camaraderie!

Bring a salad, dessert, or bread to share. Work on service projects for the community. Meet new friends, renew old friendships. You are welcome to suggest a project you would like the group to offer to the community.

Sign up on the sheet in the narthex or call 623-972-6179.

The purpose of our group is for closer fellowship and spiritual enrichment as we work together on multiple projects for various charity organizations with specific needs. We meet on the fourth Monday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to work on our projects and then gather together to share a pot-luck salad luncheon and devotional. It’s a perfect time and place to become better acquainted and strengthen our spiritual bond while using our “Hands of Love” to provide much needed items for worthwhile and appreciative organizations.

Blessing of the Sleeping Mats – September 10, 2023

On September 10, Rev. Brett Winters blessed over 200 crocheted sleep mats for the homeless made from recycled plastic bags. Each mat is added to a backpack which is supplied with water, personal hygiene supplies, and snacks.

Caring Angels, a volunteer organization founded and directed by Jody Swank, collects the donated plastic bags and cuts them into strips to be made into plarn (plastic yarn) to be crocheted. It’s a community effort with friends, family, and neighbors contributing to the project.

The Disciples Women’s Ministry (DWM) of the Sun City Christian Church meets every fourth Monday at 9am to cut bags, make plarn and crochet mats. All are welcome to join this group and can call 602-972-6179 for more information.

Caring Angels is requesting plastic bags. Additional help and donations are always appreciated. Director Jody Swank can be reached at yarning8@cox.net.

This organization operates Delivering Dreams buses which visit schools in underprivileged areas of the county to outfit students with brand new clothes and school supplies. The children are invited into the buses to select shoes, outfits, underclothes and more.
